I recently bought some 31's and I was wondering if anyone has fabbed up a spare tire carrier for 31's that mounts in the stock spare tire location? If so could you post pics of your custom spare tire carrier's that mount in the stock location?

I think someones done it. But why not throw it in the bed and a lock and chain to secure it?

You guys are forgetting one thing here....older rangers had a different spare tire setup..
Most new rangers, 98+, are secured with a cable, while some older rangers actually had a metal cage bracket that lifted and supported the tire.
My 95 had that setup.....and this guy has a 94, so his probably has the same setup.
Im not sure if a 31 + tire will fit in that old setup.
A 33" will fit in the newer setups without a hitch tho.

who needs a spare tire when you can have a tire repair in a can!!!!!!!!!!!
jk,
but seriously if you really want a 31" tire spare, just put it in the bed and tie it down.. i dont think it would be worth it to fab something up, then have to fuck around and try get at it under the truck when a tire blows > more importantly, when your on a trail and a tire fails, you dont want to be laying in mud trying to get the tire out from under there. just reach in the box and your tire it right there

this is where mine is,

then if i need the bed space i throw it ontop my storage box. i dont use my box alot of hauling stuff.. but when i do it actually has room for quite abit.

This is a pic i found in the forum from another 94...it has the carriage..

So i dont think a 32-33" will fit....maybe maybe a 31" will..
Why did ford change it?? I dunno...but this is kinda like what i am going to build...then once its done i can get dual exhaust..

I'm thinking of doing someone like this for my spare since it still needs to be a work truck but want to start making it into a toy

I think it would be sexier if you cut the tube down on the top and angled the spare toward the cab.
