I thought I would throw this out there before I take the truck to a shop. My 2000 Ranger 4x4 has a problem with the idle mechanism. The pattern seems to be that in warm weather the truck will stall repeatedly when restarted after a short stop . As soon as I restart, the revs fall off and the truck stalls . It will drive if you start in neutral and apply gas. The next time you come to a stop it will stall again . If you take your foot off the gas while the truck is moving the revs fall right away. After 10 minutes the problem corrects itself. Anyone have an idea what the problem is ?

I'd start by cleaning the Idle control solenoid. It comes off with two 8 mm I believe, then spray it with some carb cleaner. Also try cleaning the throttle body with some carb cleaner and a tooth brush, that normally helps alot.

Let us know how that works.
