I was wondering if Sun Down Audio SA-12 subwoofers are of good quality? Would a single SA-12 be as louder than a single 15" P3 at 2 ohms at 500 watts RMS in a sealed box? Basically is sun Down Audio a quality speaker company?

Sundown used to be more obscure but lately they are getting more popular. I would definitely buy an SA sub. They look really solid, and I know that the SA-8 can take hella beating all day. I would rather have an SA than a RF sub.

Now how it would do in a sealed box is another story. I'm pretty sure they are more designed to perform well in ported setups.

Would a SA-12 handle the beating an SA-8 can take? How many watts RMS can a SA-8 take? And how many watts RMS can a SA-12 take?

Sundown is very good. Their Sa-8 v.2 is AMAZING! You can't go wrong with anything in the SA-Line.

SA's don't necessarily work great in a sealed box from my experience, they will however work great in a smallish ported enclosure. SA12 has a 2.5" coil as opposed to the 8v2's 2" coil so it should handle more power thermally. Both can take a SERIOUS beating. I'm using quite a few SA12's in my new build on WAY over rated power. We have ran as high as 1700 clamped per SA8v2 and as much as 2200 clamped on an SA15 daily, not that I would recommend the average user to do so. As long as the power is clean though you can safely run over rated power with no issues.
