I want to install a new stereo in my 2003 ranger, can I just swap them out or is there something else to it?

You need to get the wiring harness adapter for your truck and then you should be good to go as long as you have soldering skills or just use some kind of krimp connectors.

Don't forget the dash kit. Assuming you are changing out to an aftermarket radio of course.

You'll need something like a BestKits BKFMK550 and BHA1771. That's the only exact model I remember right off. Everyone makes a kit and harness for it.

These too or a soldering iron and solder.

Yes it shud work, I used a Scosche FD3090 in-dash installation kit, and a Scosche FDK106 to install my new head unit in my 2008. It was really easy. I soldered all my connections, and used heat shrink tubing to keep things from shorting out. If you crimp the connections, make sure the connectors are the right size, so the wires don't come out.

This would be a better match for a radio install.
