whats the difference between my 4.0 V6 and my buddys 4.0 straight 6 thats in his jeep wrangler?

besides the cylinders being inline, the jeep 4.0 is about 30 less HP and they usually leak oil like its going out of style but they are damn near bullet proof. they have less HP and torque stock that the ranger 4.0 but have a pretty good aftermarket performance potential.

^^BUT...the torque is greater way down low in the rpm's. Right where it should be, not up at 4500rpm. Inliners ftw.

Inline 6 is the best piston engine configuration IMO. I also like the V12. First and second order motion of the engine is harmonically balanced. My next car will be a 2JZ or 1GZ Supra if I keep feeling them like I am now.
Also - you forgot about the H6, which is a very strong motor as well.

Inline MAY be best....but sound like crap and look like crap..... V anything is better than an inline.

I have both.... let me tell you... both have there perks, both have there down falls.... I love the straight six, its a tank... it might have its problems, but its tough... the V6 is great too, but again it has its problems... one thing to remember though... the Jeep will go places your Ranger could only dream of going.... But both are great engines

from my understanding you can get a longer stroke out of the inline configuration which makes more torq(corret me if im wrong). inform your friend that heeps are for girls.

the ford 4.9 i6 are awesome motors very strong great tq not sure about the heep in line 4.0 6cyl. its all in how you use the motor and what you are looking for if the rangers had the option i woulda got the old 4.9 i6 not so good on gas but those things will pull like no tommrrow and easy to work on as well

lol ill go anywhere a my buddies jeep will go, i might get stuck on the way, but ill still go. and the motor has nothing to do with that.
|
