Ok every newbie has to ask one stupid question, so here's mine: this is not the stock radio that my newly purchased 2002 Ranger left the assembly line with, is it?

I kinda thought so but my last new Ford was a 1993, so I thought there was a super slim chance FoMoCo started using Pioneer units at the factory in this decade....hahha oh well. It sounds good, just wish I could figure out how to set the time :D

They actually did offer PIONEER radios on some rangers between 2001-2005

My stock 6 CD changer radio was Pioneer made with ford motor company. Dont have it anymore cuz the cd changer quit working.

Did it say Pioneer on the front? I know my 03 XL it ws on the label when you pulled it out.

Some ranger/explorer radios have PIONEER right on the front of the radio

2002 explorer sport radio actually just the face. in a 98 ranger

^^HAHAHA...that's Justin's truck!

Yeah...If I recall correctly, there was a base stereo system. Top of the line was the Pioneer 'Tremor' package. Then there was an in-between option that was available on the XLT's and Edges, which I believe those labeled pioneer on the front came from.

Mine looked exactily like that but its weird cuz it didnt say Pioneer on the front. When you take it out it was labled on the bar code sticker with the ford motor company logo. Mine is an Edge too.

Google the brand and model, I'm sure you can find a PDF file for the owner's manual. You can find just about any manual online now.

When I first got my Ranger I was fooled for a minute. I assumed since it had the 6-disc changer that it was the Pioneer system, but it didn't say Pioneer on it anywhere. Not the case.
The Pioneer was top of the line. The other changer was Ford.

No way Pioneer wouldn't plaster their name on their stuff.

If you don't have one, do you know the Pioneer model number?

it might not be base model, but neither are our trucks, OP has an edge and i have a sport. im pretty sure if you built a 08 ranger sport online you could select pioneer head unit and sound system, and its installed by the factory.
02 edge, ill check to see if i can find the manual, or a part number

If you had the 290 watt pioneer sound system you would also have the full length console with 6.5" sub woofer in the console

STL, when i googled the pioneer model number i got the genuine ford accessories and manuals website as the first hit. im convinced the factory installed it, since a 2002 edge and a 2008 sport have the exact same head units.

Link to site?

I searched and came up with places that sale it like crutchfield.com and even wal-mart.com My only question is if it is "stock" why can you buy it on the aftermarket side?

I am willing to bet that your dealer added that radio into your truck. Sometime dealers add things to vehicles to help sale them. Do you have the window sticker? Would be labeled dealer add ons

The fact that you have the same radio as the other guy I guys you could say 1:1000000 chances

All the ones I have seen on-line come with remotes do you have one also

surfer03133

i dont think the dealer added it, because they definately woulda lost money, we bought my truck for around 12k, so i dunno why the dealer woulda given us a truck that they tried to add stuff to so they could sell for higher. but they might have done that i dunno
the google search may have been coincidence that ford sponsored that page and thats why it appeared, but it didnt appear this time
i dunno if i have a remote lol, it may be hidden among the clutter in my truck. but i have yet to find one

I know this is a very old thread... but need advice pals...

I bought this 6CD changer from 05RangerEdge. Ive not recieved it, but soon will be here:

http://i.imgur.com/gXpVoh.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/plmmOh.jpg

as you can see, has 2 connectors on the back; right=standard connector; left=amp/sub?????

the questions I have are these:

1- is the left connector for the oem amp/sub?

2- if it does; if i choose not to connect the amp/sub... will I still have nice bass on the others speakers????

3- in case I dont have enough bass... can I connect an aftermarket amp/sub? I would need wiring diagrams for that one

HELP PLEASE!!!
