I have a 86 4x4 with a 2.9L and when its at idle its rouph after it warms up it shuts off.. I put new plugs and wires, cap and i was looking for a fuel filter but i dont think it has one. Anyone know of anything else to check?

it dies when it warms up.... how does it drive b4 it warms up? any bogging down? have u checked the fuel pressure regulator?

it drives fine untill it warms up. then after it warms up there is no power, studders then dies

Im having the same problem. except mine wants to die but doesn't yet... it runs perfect when cold but as soon as it heats up the problems starts. ive read that a clogged cat will do it i haven't checked mine yet but i don't think thats it. its almost like a theres internal issues. im going to try some stuff tonight ill let u know what i do

mike86 - if you've had no luck, take the TFI-IV module in to be tested an at auto parts store, along with a hair drier to heat it up. Or run some diagnostic codes, sometimes you can get hints that would point to a TFI on the fritz, or the problem/code could be stored in memory.
Skadoo - Run a KOER test when the engine is warm.
