I have 3.73 gears now and I have been looking for a while and I want either 4.10 or 4.56 as the title says. I don't need a locker but a limited slip would be nice. Trying to decide if I should go new or used. For me, something like this is important enough to go new. If anyone has any ideas on prices that would be helpful as well. Thanks in advance for your input.

If you dont know how to install them I suggest finding a axle with 4.10 gears in it. Easier swap for ya. www.car-part.com search and find a good one locally. I bought a 2006 FX4 axle for 500 only had 6K miles

Searched my area, couldn't find anything with under 65,XXX miles on it already. But any idea how much new gears would cost, having someone install them, and a limit slip?

I had it quoted and it was gonna be around 1200 parts and labor for a shop.

Installing gears is not hard. However you can screw it up pretty quick if you dont know what your doing.

Well I definately wouldn't do it myself because I wouldn't have the first clue.

you have to get the spacing right...special tools, all kind of things. not something you just do with empty time on your hand :)
junkyards can be a place to look

Yea, I'm gonna keep browsing for a bit, hopefully something will come up in this area because someone on here was selling one with a limited slip, but shipping from texas is a bitch.

limited slip is just a small S shaped thing, you can have it and change gears and stilll have it

I don't have it right now, it's something I want lol. because I don't do off-roading a whole lot, so I don't need a full locker or anything.

So after doing some research, I've found that Yukon are apparently the best, but browsing their site is a little confusing to me because idk exactly what all I would need. If someone that knows what they are looking could help me that would be great. I am looking for either 4.10, 4.56, or even 4.88 gears. Limited slip is also on the list. Thanks in advance.

Why do you wanna go with 4.56 or 4.88 stick with the 4.10

Unless you are gonna run 35" tires.

You need the gears and the install kit

Well I was gonna go 4.56 so in case I ever decide to get a suspension lift with a body lift I could run 35s. That way I didn't have to change them again. but for the most part right now, I'll just be running 33s when I get my body lift in.
