So I have a nice set of 6x9's i would like to put in my back doors. Has any body else done this?

It could probably be done with just a cutout of MDF screwed into the 6x8 holes, then holes drilled for the 6x9's. Shouldn't be hard at all. And that way you wouldn't have to hack up your door in the process.

Medium-density fiberboard (MDF) is an engineered wood product formed by breaking down hardwood or softwood residuals into wood fibers, often in a defibrator, combining it with wax and a resin binder, and forming panels by applying high temperature and pressure. MDF is more dense than plywood.

Almost all audio related fabrication (subwoofer boxes, etc.) are constructed out of MDF or fiberglass.
