6x8 have same mounting and will work perfectly as well.

I'd use 6x8. If you're motivated and want to trim a little - you can fit 6x9.

6x8 fit right in or go 4inch with a seperate tweeter, then get a crossover that will sound 10000 times better

I run 4 6x8 Pioneers and an 800W amp in mine, sounds amazing. 6x8s fit right in, custom fit for Ford or Mazda.

I plan on running Pioneer also. 3 or 4-way and an Infinity BassLink.:D

I run Pioneer 4 ways, ran a basslink in my last ranger w/ some alpine type-r speakers, good solid bass for the price for sure. I have it in my ricer now.

How are the 4-ways? I figured the mids and treble would be great, but how about the bass?

The bass is alright, I meant to just get 3-ways, but grabbed the 4-ways instead. On sale so wasn't to costly a mistake. It still has a good bump to it for non-amped.

the only way to get a great sound is with a cross over, 3way 4 way 2 way... still need a cross over to put the lows to the woofer and the highs to the tweeter

Good to know they sound good w/o an amp. I plan on replacing the speakers and getting an amp down the road. I would have replaced all 4 speakers already, but I dread doing the back doors....

Back doors on the 4 doors definitely suck! Good luck! Best bet would be to get a whole bunch of the replacement pins and just rip the old ones out.

Where can I get those pins?

Hmm...Ford for sure has them...might be able to get some from autozone or kragen or checkers or whatever your local chain auto store is.

I believe the 2006's are 6x8 front and rear

I put 4 new speakers, a 12" sub and 2 amps in my 03 ranger 4 door. The back doors are a pain, but i think the hardest part of it all was running the front speaker wires through the door grommets, and trying to get past the parking brake brackets without taking it off!!

I am looking to upgrade the speakers again. From what ive heard, the best 6x8's are Polk audio, Infinity kappa, or alpine type-r. How do pioneer's 6x8's sound? What do you guys think are the best 6x8 speakers overall?

I have the Alpine SPX-17REF components in the front and rear with the Alpine M600 pushing them. Very clean sound! And I have 2 X 12" Kenwood subs with the Alpine M1000 pushing them, has really good sound and DEEP bass.

You can get the components off Ebay for $198, retails for $399/set.

I installed Sony xPlodes 6x9 in Front and Polk Audio 6x9 in back using spacer adapters.
My Pioneer stereo really comes alive now!

Do 6x9 speakers fit in the doors of a 03 Ranger? if so are they any better or louder than 5x7 or 6x8 speakers?

You'll have to do some cutting for the 6x9's. If you're going to add a sub, you won't need the 6x9's. Go with a nice component system or 2-ways.

Component speakers are better, but if you are on a budget like me, adaptors and 6x9s work great! They fit just fine behind the door panels on pre-2000.Not sure about 01- up
