Okay I know that this is a ranger forum. I own 2. But my dad drives a 2002 ford excursion with factory headunit (6disc) and it has factory DVD player in it. I've looked all over the Internet on how to install an after market double din (pioneer) and keep the factory rear dvd working like normal. It has an option to play through speakers or through headphone with 3.5mm jacks. I don't want to join another forum for 1 question and I know most of you guys have shops and I'm sure people have came in asking the same thing. Is there a harness to keep it or what?

There should be a harness. There is also a harness so the controls on the steering wheel work with it

His is a limited that has the rear dvd but no wheel controls. There's at separate plug on the back of the radio for the dvd system. And I have not seen an adaptor for it

Well in our 2002 you can control all of the rear DVD/vhs stuff from the back

Yeah it can be controlled from the front or the back. But it all rubs through the factory radio. If you unplug the harness for the dvd it won't work. No matter what. So I'm trying to find a way to keep the factory dvd. Stupid that there's not a harness for it

Why does he want it hooked up so bad? No one has ever used ours in 4 years (been down to Florida twice and up north countless of times) technology has advanced so much since 2002. The screen is so small anyways. You are better off using a computer

My little brother uses it constantly. And he likes everything to work like it should. I found an adaptor. P.I.E FRDN-DVD but every one I find is discontinued

Pretty sure it is proprietory, but you should call Crutchfield. If there is anything available, they know.

I think I'm going to do that. There's no option in the crutchfield menu for rear dvd or no rear dvd

Because it was a dealer installed option.
