Default Re: Power Steering Leak!!!

Keep in mind that the pump itself only holds some of the fluid. It is pumped into the rack and pinion to operate the hydralics that move the tierod ends thus steering your wheels. This is all very high pressure, so a pinhole anywhere in the system can cause a significant leak. The hoses to and from the pump are the most common places, but the lines in the rack and pinion can leak too. Look for fluid spraying on the inside of the tire walls, or if the bottom of the truck is soaked you are probably looking at the rack and pinion itself. Those are not worth a rebuild, cheaper to replace. Pray for a bad hose!
