2000 Ford Ranger XLT 6 C 4 L Window Problems...HELP PLEASE!!!
First, Thank you for this forum!!!
I have a 2000 Ford Ranger Quad Cab with a V6 4 Liter engine and it has been wonderful!!! I have owned this truck outright for nearly four years and bought it back in 2001. It has been a workhorse for me, has 104,000 miles and I have done my absolute best to keep it in good condition as this is my only vehicle and I have grown to love it so much!!!
Because of it's age there are a few things that I need to start looking at fixing and I feel I can do myself. 1st, the actuators in the locks need replacing -easy enough I think!!! This winter, the drivers side window was frozen shut and I tried to open it but think I may have done something to either the motor or the arm that keeps it on place and "in the track" (even though there appears to be no track.) Well, today, I decided to tear into the door and have a look. I am lost and it is very hard to see all the parts closely to see what the problem is. The best description I can give to anyone who might read this is:
Drivers Side Door. Motor seems to be working fine, power up and power down no problem, hear no hard laboring in motor while going up and/or down. If starting from absolute closed trying to go up, it seems as if about half way the whole window shifts about 3/16 of an inch or so to the right (if you were looking out the window from the cab). When this happens, the motor is still pushing up as long as I have my finger pushing on the button. Once the window gets to the very top, if I do not let go of the button, the motor infinitely will keep running until I stop pushing the button. While this happens, there is a bad "grinding" sound. This happens every time without fail. There is a bit of a gap towards the front of the window even though it looks closed a the top. If I manually push the window all the way up, the gap is gone but the window will seemingly fall back into its broken resting place. If I push the window all the way up and then try to bring it back down by using the power button, it will not grab and pull down. The motor just runs and runs and runs etc. I am at a complete loss and before I start replacing parts, I wanted to see if anyone has any suggestions!!! Thanks all for any help or insight you might be able to provide!!!
