Default question for 2wd v8 owners!!!

I got a 2000 ford ranger 3.0 ffv. 2wd. I want a 5.0. Whats the easiest way?! Ive been looking for a 5.0 2wd explorer for like a year.. no luck. How can I make a 4x4 explorer engine and computer work if I buy a used 2wd explorer tranny from a jy? PLEASE help. There are loads of 5.0 2wd f150's, crown vics, and mustangs. Which is the easiest.. (least wiring.)

Ummm correct me if i'm wrong, but I don't think it matters if the expo is 2 or 4wd. Do they even make 2wd 5.0 Explorers?

96 and explorer is all most a plug and play job only difference is the expo will have passive anti theft meaning that the key is chipped for that vehicle as and you will need the key or have to have one programed for it.

Just put in the motor and transmission/transfer case in from the awd 5.0 explorer and leave the front drive shaft. Then later on down the road you could do a solid front axle swap.

2000 Ford Ranger. It has the 4.0 EFI OHV motor. It is an automatic 4 speed with overdrive. It is lifted 7 inches (3" body, 4" suspension). It has 35/12.50/16.5 tires. The rims are Weld Racing Rims. It has a cold air intake.

I thought pre 97 explorers didnt have pats? My truck DOES have pats.

You are correct pre 97s dont have pats.
