Re: a4ld to aod transmission linkage
it depends. remember that the shifter linkage on the AOD is flipped 180 degrees depending on what kind a shifter it was. column shift is up and floor shifts were pointing down IIRC. does your ranger have 1-2-D-OD-N-R-P? AOD is 1-2-OD-N-R-P. if shift arm is clocked wrong, going to have all kinds of problems. luckily it's not too hard to reclock the shift arm if that's the case. the a4ld were clocked differently between floor/column, but I can't remember off hand if the rule was the same.
may have to do something custom if the shift arm isn't matching with your gear selector, not sure of the word I am looking for, but with some math you could figure out somewhere in your column linkage to make the correction - but 2 would be 1st.
fwiw if you're looking at B&M floor shifters, you're also going to need the B&M shift arm for AOD. you'll find out pretty quick that the angles have to be just right for the shift to work properly, even the aftermarkets will need some adjustment to get it right.
