i just had this great idea for mounting my aod transmission what if it took the cross bar off my 83 grand marquise donor car and put it on my ranger that would make a real easy mount right has anyone done somthing similar to this

If that cars is like a mustang it's not the same. My crossmember looks like a L the short side bolts to the trucks frame

That is the right stuff. He said to put it in where you can pull it out and wash it off with water then dry it with air and paint. It will rust back fast. He said it should only take a minute or 2

I used my stock cross member and A4LD mount, it bolted to the AOD, I just had to move my cross member brackets. But your cross member is completely different, and it's going to depend on where your engine sits. I didn't know until the engine was in and measured - you're really thinking too far at this point. it's really not going to be that hard to solve when you get there.

my truck has some they say they dont make any more it has some mounts that bolt to the truck then a bolt goes in sideways.
you need to read. it says you need to make the left the right and the right the left.

FWIW will have to drill and slot your cross member for those mounts. you'll want the engine as far back as you can, not a lot of room for cooling

Did that car have one belt or multi belts to run things off the front of the motor. If it had multi I would change all the parts and go to just one belt

opening a can of worms with AOD and a holley with the TV linkage. IMHO everything is set up and read to go, it if runs and drives OK, it would be worth while to keep it throttle body injection. the carb from the other 5.0L will probably work, just have to measure base and make sure your TV linkage will work. you kill an AOD pretty fast if your TV cable ain't set right. tuning a holley in is about the same effort as wiring up that ecu.

either way you're going to need a return style fuel pressure regulator if you plan on keeping your stock electronic pump in the tank. mechanical (or external low pressure electric) pump you will need to remove the check valve from the return in the tank and use that as a feed.
