Default Smaller to Larger Engine Swap

I am wanting to put a larger engine in a 1996 Ford Ranger. Will a 5.0 L / 302 engine fit in a 1996 Ford Ranger?

Thanks guys. Another question I have is, I know it was said that a 96 Bronco engine could fit just fine, but will any newer 5L or 302 engine fit pretty well in a 96 Ford Ranger?

Thanks guys for your answers.

How new are you talking? Ford stopped putting the pushrod 302 in cars in the late 90's, so it doesn't get much newer than that. You can still buy a 302 from FRPP though.

it doesn't really matter how new it is, but what options it had from the factory are up for consideration. 97.5+ Exp had GT-40P heads with different spark plug angles that will limit your exhaust header choices unless you plan on using the manifolds. front end dresses are different, newer 5.0Ls tend to have shorter front end dresses that make cooling easier to deal with.

the big thing that will get you is what transmission you use and your engine management as later automatics are computer controlled. 98+ torsion bar trucks are the "bolt in" trucks, putting a 5.0L in a 96 Ranger fitment/mounting wise is pretty consistent from 83-97 with the ibeam suspension. v8 was never offered there, but there are a lot of different options for engine mounts.
