wait - so you're saying that you spend 800 on the drive train and only 200 for the odds and ends? lol

I put an engine into my car that I had everything to do it, even reused the coolant because it was still good, used plugs, used wires, used distributor cap. between rear main, front seal, rtv, oil change, etc that put me at $100. that's the cheapest possible I could do it, putting a 2.3L in place of another 2.3L. I changed very little and it still cost that much. I have a hard time believing it, too.

Why does everyone assume stuff with a little mileage on it needs rebuilt? The engine I put in has 140K and runs just fine, and was manufactured in 1993. I did this swap like 2 years ago.. The 3 speed ATX has even more miles, just changed the filter and topped it off with new fluid. Makes me think Ford is junk or maybe I am missing something

It was flipped so the trans was burnt up. And I wasn't going to just put a motor in without a tune up. Reread. Didn't spend $800 on drivetrain
