I might do true duals. Having my thrush welded just coming out one side is alright but I bet a v8 pushing out both sides would sound real nice

I'm running dual glasspacks dumped under the bed. My truck has Mustang manifolds with a crack in one, but I'm about to order some Tri-Y long tube headers for a 289 Mustang. After the headers I might re-route the exhaust to have it come out both sides. Right now it's two pipes dumped about a foot in front of the passenger rear wheel.

Thanks man! More to come. I took the oil pan off while swapping the motors and I could literally take shake the entire bottom end of the engine with my hands. It was bad.

Look for an engine on Craigslist. Explorer motors and Mustang motors both made 215hp stock, so find a 86 to 95 Mustang motor or an Explorer/Mountaineer engine 96 to 01. 97 and up Expo 5.0s got the P heads for a bit more power.

I want a 99 because it matches right up. I can get the motor for 265$ at a junk yard. I'm gunna rebuild it anyways.

If you want a really good setup, get a rear ratio around 3:23 and use a t5 or an aod (is your truck 2 or 4wd) any way, with that rear you will get fair mileage and in the lower transmission gears you will have good power. Drive and overdrive will be crusing gears. You need a minimum of 300whp for this to work well though.

I love my truck. But in all reality. When he is paid off should I sell/trade him for a.4 wheel drive one for the v8 swap?

A 302 swap on a 4x4 is much harder I've heard. Especially when you wanna do headers.

The motor mounts match up easier though.

Still got that front differential to worry about. It's so hard to get headers to work.
