5.0 swap questions?
I've been thinking about swapping my 2.5L for a 5.0 and I wanted to know something's, how will mileage be? Where could I get a manual transmission that will work? I pretty much need everything, I've never swapped a motor in a small truck like this

Re: 5.0 swap questions?
Well first, check with your state laws on engine swapping and emission stuff. i know here in cali it has to be of the same year or newer.
Second, take your time. Label every connection when you take it off and take pictures when you can. It is best if you have the trucks side by side so you can just take one part from the expo and put it on your Ranger. Get some red solo cups to put the bolts in when you remove them and write on the cup where they go.
As far as the 4x4 goes, i dont know if its a bolt over conversion from the expo to the ranger. Im not a 4x4 guy so you should ask someone who cares/knows. Id say its a 50% chance of yes.
Don't get rid of the expo until you have completely finished the swap and have driven it around to get the kinks out. It may have something on it that you still need. Also try to make sure everything works on the expo before you start the swap. That way if something doesn't work you can assume that it was something that your did wrong and not something inherently wrong with the part.
Again, take your time. good luck.
