i could understand reliable power in a pickup but for a toy hotrod IMHO do something that hasn't been done a billion times

Ok, ok. STUPID question coming.........................
How about the FORD 4.2L? Yea, I know NOT much more than a 4.0L, BUT, with better injectors & a few extra hop ups (Intake, P&P, etc), I think this will not only fit easily, but haul azz! Besides, 2 EXTRA cylinders, MORE torque for BIGGER tires, & prob a bit better top end!
My reason; We had a F150 in the shop the other day, checking it out for the used car lot I've been working as a mechanic for going on 2 yrs now, & even the transmission APPEARED to be close to the 4.0L. Didnt have 2 long to look, as I was on a freakin water pump on a 96 Rodeo (3.2L......can u say PAIN right square in the A**!)
On another note, before being a mechanic where I am now, I had previous mechanice exp. from about 15 yrs ago. FOR 13.5 years.
