3.0 to 4.6 swap
If i were to drop in a 4.6L v8, how much of a pain in the ass would it be? would i have to redo anything on my front end due to the weight and would i have to do anything to my drivelines and axles and differential?

Re: 3.0 to 4.6 swap
HUGE pain in the ass. have you seen how wide the 4.6 is? its like 2x as wide as a 302
shit ton of cutting and reworking to get the engine to fit, not to mention accessories, radiator, battery, intake, etc. the trans will need a new mount built on the frame, the drive shaft will most likely need to be custom made, and you would be an idiot to keep a 7.5 axle under there instead of swapping to an expo 8.8 or a 9"

Re: 3.0 to 4.6 swap
But as far as modular engines go, that 4.6 is a beast with one HELL of a block. But seriously go with a fuel injected 5.0

Yep. It would be a PITA. my expedition has a 4.6. Good luck getting that thing to fit in a ranger.

Re: 3.0 to 4.6 swap
They did it on Spike's power block Trucks tv show. But you know how those shows go... they make it look easy and it was quite the project on the show.

Re: 3.0 to 4.6 swap
yeah them things are giantic! There is an expy at the bone yard with the front clip removed. I swear its like 3' across from head to head
Tho I think you'd have a better chance with the 98+ as the frames are wider.

Could be done for sure, but not as easy as other engines.
