2000 ranger v8 swap

tomorrow i will be picking up a 5.0 from a 1998 explorer i plan on puting it in my ranger becouse my 3.0 has had it. im just not to sure what to do for a tcase?? and any other little things i will need

well i got a 1998 exploerer 5.0 im striping i just have to find a t case?

Try to find a 1998 F150 with 4WD and snatch the T case off of it. It should bolt right in if I'm not mistaken.

I would have figured the ranger and explorer used the same trans and transfercase...

Thinking about it...i dont think they used the 5.0 and the 4.6L replaced it in 1996.

That's the beauty about the ranger. You can use F150, Mustang, and explorer parts on it. They basicly still use the same rear end housing on all of the models really, and most explorer parts are bolt on or can be modified to fit. Same deal with the F150 really. The last year for the 5.0 was 2001 used in the explorer. They used it from 1999 till 2001. F150's started using the 4.6 L aorund the same time the mustangs did, 1996.

ok with the f150 tcase can u use my stock drive shafts?

There you go. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if they just bolted right in without having to do any modifying period.

ok becouse my front shaft has the cv joint at the tcase i got the 5.0 motor trans wireing and computer just wateing to find what to do for a tcase before i tare in to my ranger because right now it drives (barely)

Usually alot of people end up having some new ones made for their paticular set up. I gave you some wrong information pal. That's my fault there because I misread your post. I should've read it a little better than I did.

Ok I need somehelp I got the motor trans computer and wireing problem is the speed sencer is in the tranny for the explorer and its in the rear end on my ranger now what??

VSS is in the Tranny or Tcase for a 98. 99-01 is in the rear axle

you need a tranny and stuff from a 99-01 and the axle from the expo (if your upgrading the rear.)

98~2001 Ex 5.0 VSS source is the rear axle ABS sensor.
