Hmmm weird I looked at a few when I went to get a rear axle and they didnt have it on the pumpkin it was on the tranny. After looking online at some other forums some are saying the tranny and others the axle. Is it the 4.0 that has it on the tranny?

well there is a sencer on the side of the tanny for the 1998 5.0?? idk looks like the speed scncer

I believe that the ABS sensor on top of the rear diff housing has been on every Ranger (except electric) from the late 80's through 2009.

All 98~01 4-door Explorers, both 4.0 and 5.0, source the raw VSS signal from the rear axle ABS sensor. Same for all 98~00 Rangers plus the 2001 2.5L Ranger.

The Output Shaft Speed sensor is used by the 98~01 5.0 Ex PCM for transmission control. It is not involved with the speedometer in any way.

well the swap is done been driveing it for abought 4 days it runs great

Im interested in what you did. Im picking up a 5.0 engine in the next couple weeks. What is required to transplant that into the ranger.

5.0 from explorer with wireing harnes, computer,pats system,trans,,motor mounts the tcase is the problem i still have the awd tcase for now

been driveing it for 2 months now olny problem i had was burned up the trans got a rebuilt one and put a trans go aod hd2 shift kit in and love it next im gunna put dual flowmasters on it the straight pipes are geting loud!

Explorer ohc and lighted visors, Mustang dome light with LED's, In channel vent visors, Explorer sport trac guages, White faceplate for a/c controls, 8.8 ls rearend with 3:29 gears, 302 swap, coil spacers, 3" body lift, Westin step bars, A.R.E. topper with roof racks, 33x12.50x15 firestone destination a/t's, 8 hole american racing rims.

started pulling the 3.0 out on a monday and was driveing it the next tusday
