Default Best V8

I hate the fact that my friends dodge eats my ranger, and my bosses corvette is a 5.7 litre i was thinking making a 351 ₩ ranger but im concerned about the fuel economy and im concerned about kicking their butt also keeping it stockish height cause im not a low rider or lifted fan when if comes to rangers I do a lot of highway no off road and Canadian roads arn't smooth for low riding

if you are worried about fuel economy a V8 isnt for you.

A ranger isnt mean to go fast.

yeah, the 5.0 is the best option really. parts are easy to come by, every body and their brother makes performance parts. And done right you can get a lot of ponys outta em.

I hate when people say, if u want fuel economy the v8 is not for you!

I would not ask if it was not for me as for the 4L that engine is too new for me

I want a carb

Also a lot of people have done the 302

Is it easier AND!!!! Cheaper to build a 302 for the ranger ?

Or a 351W and I'd like around 400-500 horses also and any vehicle can get decent fuel if ur foot is not made of lead and I want the v8 sound through my pipes and when someone gets to dangerous on the road I want to pull away from danger that's all

the 351w is more a pita since the block is wider. as I recall the intake from a 302 will not fit a 351w. it was about 2"wider at the heads. I have also heard that the 351w interfears with the steering shaft and box

While I agree with your statement that it's dumb for people to say a V8 can't get good gas mileage, a 351 will NOT get "good" gas mileage no matter what, especially if you build it up. 400-500 horses is going to be a temptation to slam on that gas pedal, and we all know that's the wrong thing to do for a "miles per gallon" conscious mind.

Yes, the 302 has been done a lot, but it works and it's supposedly easier then stuffing your other choice into a Ranger. Not to say the 351 hasn't been done (hell, I think there are a couple out there with the 460), but you actually can get decent mileage out of the 302, and with a few mods can definitely get that V8 sound and plenty of power that you crave.

A 7.3L powerstroke in a ranger would be a dream come true I want to go to school for diesel mechanics and I am a lube technician at the moment is there info on this forum about such a swap ?

And how do u figure it would get good milage. Btw we just ruled out the Windsor for good so now it's powerstroke or 302
