302 Swap - What trans?
Hey guys, as ya know I'm (slowly) building a 302 for Little Blue. I was wondering about what transmission to use. Can I reuse the Mazda HD that came in the truck? T-5? T-56? What do y'all think?

You could probably use the M5OD-R2 from a similar year F-150 to the engine. It's a beefier manual then the one used in the rangers.

m5r1 will not bolt up to a 302 ao a m5r2 is the way to go. If your 2wd then a t-5 would be alright to.

Re: 302 Swap - What trans?
There's a later F-150 M5OD-R2 that puts the shifter close to stock location, but can't remember what years. I am sure you could find it searching. Think it was behind the 4.2L, will just have to look. Will have to research to figure out which one will work best for what you want to use the truck for.

I'm 4x4 but I was still thinkin T-5 cause Borg Warner built the T-5 (Tremec bought Borg and used the tranny) and Borg made the T-5 to be used in 2wd and 4x4 applications. I was kinda wondering if I could steal a trans out of a 5.0 F-150 4x4.

Re: 302 Swap - What trans?
The T-5 is 2wd trans tho, you would have to get a divorced T-case, I think it'd be more cost effective to just run an m5r2 from the f-150

Re: 302 Swap - What trans?
A T-5 from an F150 4X4 would be fine as long as it's either close or is the same year as your truck is.
