Default Heater box clearance?

Is there another heater box out there that i can use for my truck to get more room for the valve covers? I am not useing ac, so do they make a smaller box? The ranger is a 1989.

You'll still have to modify the non-A/C box in most circumstances.

Clean all factory stuff off firewall and under dash, install a vintage air heat/cool/defrost unit.

Just heat the corner of the heaterbox, and press in with a old (or new) oil filter to make a nice, smooth rounded indention.
It will look nice and factory, and only takes a few minutes.
