Default V8 or not to V8

I have an 89 xlt 4x4 5 speed, is there a ford v8 that will bolt right up to my tranny or do i have to swap bellhousings?

it would be smarter to get a v8 transmission, and probably the transfer case as well..I would at least get the transmission b/c I don't believe the the stock one will take the heat.

Ok but can a v8 bolt up to the tranny, I know on the Chevy s-10 you can bolt a 350 to the 4l60e v6 tranny and it'll hold up.

Don't think they make an adapter, nor would you want to bolt a V8 to a stock Ranger transmission even if it was a matter of swapping the bell housing. If it's an M5OD-R1, bell housing is integral - need to figure out what transmission you have and do lots of research and inquire to companies that make adapter plates and see what they have to say. Just about every V8 swap I've seen that I can remember has used a V8 transmission.
