The DOHC 4.6 and the S/C 5.4 are about the same width. You'll have clearance issues on the driver side with the steering shaft and if it is the coil sprung front end you'll need to offset the LH engine mount off by 1" to keep from hitting the upper control arm perchs with the power steering pump and it leaves enough room to run a oil filter relocation kit as well. Also if weight is a determining factor just know this, a fully dressed 4.6 DOHC weights 40lbs lighter that a long block 5.0, so if would be safe to say that the 5.4 and 5.0 weight about the same.

okay. how about if its a newer ranger. like a 2000 and newer? could it fit easier because of the A-arm suspension and rack-n-pinion steering? also, with the 5.4 s/c isnt there wayy too much weight in the front of the truck? wouldnt a 4.6L 3v from a 2005 and newer mustang be better because of the aluminum block, and just add an aftermarket supercharger later??

The 5.4L from the GT500 would be a nice build because of the 500hp from factory, plus very few people have it in a ranger!!

the new 2011 5.4l gt500 is an aluminum block the rest are iron and they make about 540 hp stock with a super charger the new 5.0 they tested on horspower tv and they where getting 420hp stock on the engine dyno naturally aspirated so you could possibly get a higher horsepower number then the 5.4 if you put forced induction on it


ive heard of people getting into the 600+ HP range with a super charged 4.6l DOHC 4v aswell so they are all alot of horsepower
