I have seen a lot of 302 swaps and some 289 swaps but has anyone done a 260 v8 from early falcon. I am considering this just because im not looking to race the truck just make something cool and differant.

I have done many motor and trans combos into a ranger. 255 289 302 351 460 By far the most impractical was the 460. To much front end weight.

isn't the 260 the same as the 289 with smaller bore??

if my memory is correct??

The 260ci is 3.80 bore/2.87 stroke. 289 is 4.00 bore/2.87 stroke. 302 is 4.0/3.0 stroke. the same amount of work will be involved and 302's are easy to find. Might as well get the most for work involved.
