Default V8 into 2000 ranger 5 speed

Im in the process of looking for an explorer with a 5.0 and had a few quick questions...

#1- My transmission obvioulsy wont work- but i do NOT want to go automatic. What would be my next best option that would bolt in- and still function with 4x4.

#2- my next question then would be what transfer case- bolted to 5 speed of course?

Thanks

i sugest a 5 speed and tranfer case out of an 99 up f150 with the 4.2 six banger you will have to drill out the bell housing hole a little bit but thats the trans i found that fit the best plus you will need custom drive shafts

Can he not just cut down his driveshafts? That would only run like $50 each IIRC
