So, i'm new to this site... and so far it's a shame on how nobody here talks of a 4.6 dohc swap in a ranger... so i guess i will be the first to talk...
i have a 1998 ford ranger that i am currently in the process of dropping a 4.6 dohc into... pics will be up as soon as i get the hang of this forum...

yeah most people do the 5.0 swap because its easier to do and i want to see pics of the 4.6L swap!!! i would do something like that but it sucks finding a manual transmission for a 4.6... oh and ive seen a 4.6l swap on trucks and it was badass

meh, most are on rps or trs that have done this swap. Not done too often on here because most guys here are 4wd guys, and want low end power and torque (hence a 5.0 swap).

gonna upload tonight if i can download the images off my phone on to this site... i have the first three days worth of the project documented on my phone and two other days on my fiances phone... hopefully tonight i can buy a reall camera or get my hands on one... oh and i used to use my ranger mainly for mudding... thats how the ranger died in the first place... i figured if i bag the ranger... then maybe i wont be tempted to thrash it in the mud...

uhm the motor is from a 1996-97 lincoln mark 8... i picked it up for a good price and it ran like a champ.... i dont believe anything is done to it.. i really just want to get it in the ranger and running... i am pretty good at advaned tunning so i plan to do a shit ton of stuff.... but the time and money is what need...

okay, new post. ran out of money when my fiance's stupid dodge dakota decided to take a crap... project went on hold for a bit.. finally this weekend i get to spend money on my project. i just finished ordering a shit ton of parts from jegs, and i'm also toying the idea of a twin turbo set up, or at least a single. i need some help here...

ohh. also getting the block back from the machine shop. this weekend.
. the donor car is from ohio and there was a bit of corroding starting to form on the block so i sent it off to get acid washed and rebuilt the bottom end with a stronger crank...

There may not be a guy on here that has done the 4.6 DOHC swap on here, but the swap has been by done by from what I have research only 3 people. Its a fairly easy swap, if you need help researching it just type in 4.6 DOHC in google and there is a guy who documented most of his build. The hardest part would be making the headers. Oh yeah you will loose your A/C, but who needs that? A/C is over rated! lol

would a 4.6L DOHC supercharged be a little better?? or worse?? its prob harder for cleareances and trying to find one in good kms..
