a roots type s/c'd 4.6 would be a bit of a problem, other than maybe having to cut the bumper to make room for the intercooler. Like if you were planning on grabbing a 03-04 Cobra engine. they have a intercooler that is about 9" tall and 28" wide and only about 1" thick. If I had the loot to do a 03-04 Cobra I would, but in my neck of the woods these engine heads know what they have and are proud of it, based on the complete drivetran running in the realms of 6-10k! that complete engine, harness, and T-56 trans!

Lincoln Continental = InTech 32 valve 4.6(DOHC)
96-01 Mustang Cobra = 4.6 (8TH LETTER OF VIN "V") DOHC
Lincoln Mark VIII = 4.6 (8TH LETTER OF VIN "V") DOHC

Some of the early model 4.6 DOHC engine were built by the Ferrari engine builders, which are known for being good for 800HP with stock rotating assembly.

He has the italian 4.6 you refer to. LOL Its called a teksid block. Same one thats used in the 03-04 svt. Main differance is the crank isn't the same, and the main bolts can be reused. You have a engine thats good for 1000hp if you want. Hope you get back on so I know if its worth writing some pointers.

Actually, the 03-04 cobras used an iron block not the aluminum teksid block. and the continental block is a little different and not really easily bolts in.

alright... as for the "JFIVE" guy or girl... If you want to try and correct someone just do it and dont come off with all this half @$$ info... FYI... I build performance Modular and Late Model Ford engines. Familiar HOLMAN MOODY? Anyway aint no need to get into to all that. I will start by saying that (and I quote) "Same one thats used in the 03-04 svt. Main differance is the crank isn't the same, and the main bolts can be reused." (unqoute) is about as true as all 4.6 Cobras have the same bottom end. FYI, the only Cobras that came with Teskid blocks were (btw the years may be about 1 year off) 96-98. They also were aluminum and built to handle 1k HP. They shared the same bottom end as the mark viii & continental. Only the Mark and Cobra had interchangeable parts and some exceptions of the fwd DOHC cars. Yes, however they have been known to handle up to 1k HP, however when dealing with HP numbers you have to consider its usage... ie street, strip, or both. Sean Hyland has been building these engines since the day that they made their debut in 93 in the Mark's. 1k HP out of a DD is not only unrealistic but also impossible unless you've got pockets that have no bottom, now 1K HP out of a strip car, breeze with a Teskid Block. If you want to start comparing facts, you should go grab the book wrote by Sean Hyland that has everything there is to know about every Mod engine Ford has produced up to the latest 3V.

If you cant tell i dont get on here much, but when i get on here and someone is trying to put me in my place about 4.6, 5.0, or 7.5's I'm gonna come back. Just a little helpful reminder, because you may not see everything YOU think should have been posted, typed, or pictured does not mean that the person does not know what they are talking about. See I keep my mouth shut about the 4.6 because it has been kept a really good secret amoungst us wrenchers and engine builders because we dont want some Jap company to start making BS parts and ruining the rep of a well built engine.

Thats a wrap for me....

::yawns::

thats all folks...

FYI... Ab+Ah+SS/c = 500HP (all stock parts no mods)

----------

Eh there "Turbo Roadster", I sure hate to refer someone to another forum but your rattle box made me do it.... check out this link... you wanna see a comleted budget built Mod swap in a 4th Gen ranger????

http://http://www.rangerpowersports....it-142933.html

there are some pictures as well.....

The Mans name is Greg, he built this truck all on a budget, can be found through Google search, Car Domain, or (please forgive me) ranger pwr sprts.

I wasn't correcting you. You need a sense of humor, or an attitude adjustment. I was wrong on the 03-04 part. It was 99 to 01 that have the engine with non reuseable main bolts, but oh well. I did read the info from the guy you speak of. I just read it once and got confused about the differant engines. Sorry if you are insulted by my non insult, I guess. You read all sorts of things into things that aren't there. I never said build a 1000 hp stock engine and try and get 200k out of it. I was just saying it has potential to be a 1000hp engine, or even more. My info is more for the turbo stuff, like good parts that won't break the bank, but before I go into it, you need to post pics of something, and show some form of a build. Personally with the area of a ranger, I would look at a single turbo mounted in the front, possibly where the battery sits, and make custom logs or something. There is a mini series where they use a 4.6 in a ranger, if I can find a link to it for ya. But put up some pics and make believers out of the non believers, or this thread will never get off the ground. Open a photobucket account, upload pictures from a computer. Email them to your computer from the phone if you have too, but get it done, and need more info on what your goals of the truck are. I don't see it being a DD with it being down so long allready. Solo if I was gonna put you down, I would have put you down. I was just laughing to myself at how you classified his engine. Its just that the way you worded this "Some of the early model 4.6 DOHC engine were built by the Ferrari engine builders" could be misleading. The teksid was built by a company that has built motors for ferrari, and fiat i believe. A sub company, not ferrari. Wasn't trying to make a big deal out of it. I was more or less just adding info to your short post.
