Hi!
You might be able to use a 4.0L HD radiator (91-93 with max A/C automatic transmission - it is a 2 row), if you get a 5.0L with the shorter front end dress. Otherwise, with the normal lengthed
FEAD, you will have to cut the core support.
On my '88, I found 2 holes already in the front frame near the bumper. I simply cut out the bottom of the core support, and used a big piece of angle iron to mount in the radiator. And trimmed everything else that got in the way..
AOD is a toughy w/ a carb if you do not have brackets. The kick down adjustment
has to be right. I used a Lokar AOD cable (w/ SRK-4000 carb bracket, and also Lokar throttle cable is required to complete the kit, not not entirely required with some creativity, but I would recommend just going with the new throttle cable, as I eventually plan to do). I checked the trans pressure with a transmission pressure gauge to check and adjust.
W/ my '88 A4LD truck going to AOD, I had to move the transmission crossmember forward in the next set of holes in the frame, and transmission bolted right in. About the only thing that went in easy, but you won't have to worry about this for some time. Just look to see what needs to happen and some up with a solution to get it done.
If using headers, really make sure you do your research before committing to anything.
