The T5 never came in the F150. They did come in the Mustangs though.

The M5OD came in the F150 trucks, and lots of people use those for their V8 swaps, but they do shift more like a big truck transmission. More "notchy" - That's where the T5 is a better choice for a street truck, at least in my opinion..

If you end up looking for an M5OD, then you'll want one that was originally behind the 4.6 in the F150.

If you end up looking for a T5, then it pays to do some research on Google to find out what donor vehicle you should be looking for to get one from. There were a lot of different specs for the T5. You don't want a T5 used in a 4cly car, and you don't want one from an S10. Remember, any T5 from a car of any kind is going to move the shifter waaay back, and it may interfere with some seats in a truck. That's why Modern Driveline started producing their own front shift tail housing for the T5. People have done an S10 T5 tailhousing swap, but it's less than ideal. It may have internal oiling issues, and the speedometer gear "fix" is far less than ideal as well.

here's an update on where I am with my project. im finally ready to pull the trigger despite my wife's opinion. im going over part numbers to order the things needed to put my engine and trans into the truck. I bought a world class t5 out of a 92 mustang and a 5.0 out of an 86 capri (fuel injected). in doing my research, I figured out the oil pan and sump are mustang parts and the headers are for a 67-73 mustang but I only have a part number for an automatic. does anyone know what headers and motor mounts I should buy for my truck? it is a 92 ranger 2wd. are the motor mounts the same as a mustang as well? any help to make me more prepared will help. thankyou in advance

Wow! I had this idea floating around in my head for my 93 short bed manual trans. I am super excited that other people have done this before (so I know it can be done) and I am also very appreciative of the links I found here as well.

Here's another update.... I now have the engine and trans in the truck and fit with clearance for the headers. I've figured out that I am unable to use a cable linkage for the t5 I'm using so I'm looking for an external slave cylinder now to try and use with the factory master cylinder off my donor truck. I can use stock mustang pulleys and belts but I have to tuck the radiator in the core support. I'm installing a new core support tomorrow. I'll give another update once more things are sorted out

It's me again. I'm giving everyone another update on my progress. I've now got the radiator in which has its issues. I bought a northern radiator from Amazon and it's real nice looking and tucks up in the core support nicely. It however will not work with stock mustang pulleys. I'm trying to sort out that issue. I've also purchased a tail housing and shift fork rod for a t5 from a 80s/90s s10. It will locate my shifter in almost stock location. I have not figured out what to use for an external slave cylinder yet. I have to go hydraulic since I don't have clearance in the cab for a cable. If anyone has any input that can point me in a low budget direction on any of my issues I would immensely appreciate it. As for my budget I've set, I'm way past that. Lol. I'm about $4k into it and still have a ways to go.
