I have a big camshaft
I have a big camshaft and the power brakes did not work good because no vacuum. so I tried to go to manual brakes and they would not hold the truck when trying to stall it up. I went back to power brakes and I'm going to have this electric vacuum pump to see if it works IMG_2797.JPG

Re: I have a big camshaft
Cool, I've had the same thing happen to me (PB/inadequate vacuum issue). So what's the question?

Re: I have a big camshaft
Will you use a vacuum reservoir with that vacuum pump or will there be no need?

Re: I have a big camshaft
I'll be using it without a reservoir. You can do it both ways

I have a big camshaft
The brakes don't work with just the pump I have to add a reservoir. I ordered the one from the company of the pump

Re: I have a big camshaft
Brakes work good but still can't get it to stall over about 2,500 rpms.

^^^Curious and a bit confused by this statement. Did you install a TC that was rated at, for example and just throwing out a number, a 3,000 RPM stall speed and you're not seeing that number (which wouldn't come as a surprise)?

Re: I have a big camshaft
Yes I had the converter rebuilt when I changed the camshaft and heads on the motor. I was told it would stall 3,500 to 4,000 stall. The place I had it done at is reason I tried to go to non power brakes IMG_2814.JPG

Re: I have a big camshaft
NP. The reason I got curious was because, even though a TC manufacturer may list a stall speed for a product, variables (torque, weight, etc) tend to not let that happen. You knew that, right?
Power brake lack of vacuum.......last time I had that problem was specifically because the cam I was running a healthy amount of overlap.

Re: I have a big camshaft
Yeah we gave them the dyno numbers, truck weigh, gear ratio, tire size, transmission without trans brake and they still got it wrong
