Any reason why it doesn't make sense?

Yes. If you have a 4 cylinder 5 speed Ranger you take the engine out put a V8 in it you now have a small overpowered truck that doesn't have the suspension or the braking system to know what the engine is capable of Towing, and you also lose the economical side of the Ranger.

It makes a lot more sense to go buy a full size truck that gets the same mileage as a V8 Ranger but will tow two or three times the weight.

It's the same reason why I would buy a Dodge Rampage over an El Camino or The Ranchero any day. Define buying a small truck it's so that I can haul a four-wheeler or refrigerator or lawn mower but still get halfway decent fuel economy so that I can drive it daily without destroying my wallet.

It makes sense on a full race truck or an off-road vehicle because of the power to weight ratio but on a street use truck a V8 swap has no pros to outright the cons.

V6 Ranger doesn't make a lot of sense to me as a daily driver either butt I feel like the V6 is a little happier medium between a full size and a 4 cylinder

My suggestion to you would be take your opinions to an APPROPRIATE thread, as this ain't it!

The OP was askin for "V8 Swap Follow-Ups".

Not your opinion about the swap, or on those of us that have done the swaps.

I drive mine to work DAILY and get better MPG than I ever did with any 2.3L, 2.5L, or 3.0L, and never owned a 4.0L, but I'm sure they eat gas too!

So quit tieing up the thread with your UNWANTED opinion.

anything else you would like to share?

Last question is where my opinion fits in.

What changed, and would I do it again fall into why I believe it doesn't make sense.

I've had a v8 ranger with a 350 chevy, and one with a 302. One was a "street" truck the other was an offroader. I purchased them both already swapped and would never do it myself. I'd put a 2.3 turbo in before I did a v8 swap myself.

Youd rather have a 4cyl turbo for offroading than a v8? I going to have to seriously question your opinions after that statement.

I don't usually step into stink pots here but I'm going to do like 10 more V8 conversions, all using 302 ford motors just because of your opinion.

So you don't get it. I get it that you don't get it. But there is no reason to chime in on a V8 ranger thread dissing V8 rangers except for intentionally ruffling feathers. It is thread pollution dude.

The fact that he would rather have a turbo 4cyl where you have to go get into boost for an off-road vehicle pretty much shows he doesn't know what he talking about

The reason I asked the question in the first place is that I am unsure which way to go. V8, diesel, 4cyl turbo all have their advantages and drawbacks. I was hoping for some experiences of others to hopefully base an eventual decision on. No some *******'s opinion on weather or not it makes sense. It's like any other modification, it's all about what the person wants and not what others opinions are.

Doesn't appear as though the op is discussing race or offroad only truck, so I assume we are discussing a truck that is primarily for Street use where someone is looking into power options. Never said I'd swap a 4cylinder turbo into offroad only truck.

I'm not dissing v8 Rangers, I said there is a place they make sense and dont. As mentioned I've had v8 Rangers in the paste and I have answered the questions asked. Some of which require opinion.

You don't like my opinion so be it, it wasn't mean to piss a bunch of people off. But it's how ever you want to take it.

To the op I understood you were undecided. That is why my reply was short and simple without going into 3 pages of details. . If.you wanted more, I wpuld provide if asked (as I did) if you wanted to over look it, that was ok just the same. I can't persuade you one way or the other but you asked if anyone had anything else to ad, which i did.

I'm out of this thread, not here to argue like a little school girl. Yall enjoy
