I would like to know if anyone else has run into this problem. I put a 1998 explorer 5.0 engine, trans, and a awd transfer case in my ranger . it works great except for the 4x4 low and high lights flashing. Im sure it is flashinh because it's looking for the transfer case. so any ideas on how to get rid of it? or what someone else did to eliminated it?

My 98 has a 00 Explorer AWD engine, trans, T-case, and I have no such issue. Not sure as to whats goin on with your tho.

it is a 1999 ranger. what is going on is it is looking for the transfer case. The Explorer transfer case has no electric connections so i wraped the wires. everything seems to be working just fine. i just want to know if i need to clip the 4wd hi and low lights because i went awd with it. i also pulled the front axels and hubs out of the explorer aswell to eliminate the pvh lockers. for a solid awd system. what i am getting at i have no clue as to why it is looking for the transfer case. the pcm has never looked for one there nothing to tune out.

you know what after I read what I just wrote the answer came to me like a big wack on the head i forgot to take the tccm out i will do that and see what happens

Remove the bulbs in the cluster.
