Pick the TM's up if they are not gone. If it doesn't work outfor whatever reason post them for sale on this forum and I bet they will sell in a day.

Someone could make good money right about now if they could come up with a header set that would fit ranger/expo gt40 and gt40p and sell them for around 500.

Did you check with Jegs? They have a V8 swap kit with headers. Don't know if the headers are available separately.

Nope, the Jegs kit is for the pre-1998 Rangers. The later trucks have a completely different front suspension and engine bay frame rails.

Look at how weeeerd the torque monsters are.

I have now spent countless hours researching headers for my swap.

The question should be asked... "Why are torque monsters"

Answer would be... "Because as of todays date, nothing else fits right"

Has anyone done headers outside the frame rails on a 98+ 2wd ranger? Dudes being difficult about shipping for those TM's. Wants a money order instead of PayPal. Ridiculous. Checking local shops to see about custom made ones

While I'm thinking about it, getting an SCT Livewire + for my build, trick flow stage 2 cam, 1.7 rockers, stock explore intake for now, might port lower depending on price, 190cc heads 64cc though, nice valve springs and valves, going with 24# injectors, what do I need to do with the MAF? Or can I control that through the Livewire?

Bump....what's a good offer for some once used FRPP 9430-e52's? Dudes asking 500 plus shipping. Seems like a straight rip off since they retailed for $309, and torque monsters are going for a tick over 5-600 if you can find them.

No more than 155.00 1/2 price sale.

Lol dudes a joke...back on the header search...other dude wanted 750 for those TM's but man that's pricey.

What stock manifolds can I use that flow the best possible for what they are? Lol. Just gonna keep those until I find someone I want to make the proper headers.

EDIT: just ran across these. Says it'll fit a 2000 explorer 5.0, maybe they'll fit the ranger too? http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sk.../J211615S.html

I would call somebody there and make them promise in writing LOL. I found a similar header on e-bay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/351717413521...AIT&rmvSB=true

and was told on another forum (in a really funny way) that they were not going to work.

The JBA's look similar to the e-bay headers if it is a picture of actual product.

I see. Didn't think they would work anyways.

What about this...for ~$100 more you can get headers for the left side that flow 2 into 1 rather than 3 into 1 like the cheap one. See what I mean? Also with the right side, the tubing looks larger, should flow much better with the more expensive ones rather than the ones that throw 3 cylinders' exhaust into one tube? Haha

Those will both work. The top ones look like the stock 96/97 expo setup and the bottom are 98/01 stock.

I have been told that the stock cast manifold actually flows better than the tubes... thats why ford went with the later design. I'm actually buying the cast ones to put on mine.

Having looked up close at the tube set on my 97 you can see where the tubes are pinched in several areas.

But then again the cast being better is only what I was told and have read but I saw enough to plan to switch mine.

So the bottom ones are the cast ones you're referring to right?

Cool. Thought so.

Do you know if I need a new mass air for this type build or would I be able to control that with the SCT Livewire ts+ ? Checked out C&L performance's stuff but wasn't sure what I should go with. Going to run 30# injectors (speaking of which, any preferred brand?), ported explorer lower, patriot 190cc heads, and that trick flow cam.

Moving forward with this swap slowly...got alum heads, motor mount plates, motor and trans mounts, ball joints and rod ends, coil spacers and strut spacer for front end (stock suspension only staying for a few months), ARP rod and head bolts and rocker studs, valve covers, & Flow Tech Induction custom ground cam. Got FTI hardened push rods, Ford racing roller rockers, felpro gasket kit, Cloyes double timing chain, 70mm throttle body and mass air, & SCT programmer on the way soon, and will decide on torque converter once I get the final cam specs. Ed at FTI certainly knows his stuff...can't wait to see what sort of a cam he works up since I wanted to keep duration below 215 and .050 and no cam on the market for 302's has that plus lift above .540". Custom all the way then! Gonna pick up motor, trans and all accessories by next month more than likely.
