5.0/R2 swap
I got myself a 5.0 out of a 1993 Bronco and an M5R2 4x4 Trans (sans T-Case) for my 93 RWD Ranger.
I'm still in the process of dis-assembly, and parts acquiring (I'm going with Explorer GT40P heads and Intake (intake for hood clearance).
I know the M5R2 has different mainshafts between the RWD and 4WD models, but what exactly are the differences?
My truck currently has an M5R1 mated to a 4.0, if I have to swap mainshafts for RWD conversion, can I use my R1 shaft?
If I absolutely have to get an R2 RWD shaft, where can I find one? In my 4 weeks of searching I have yet to even find a part number.
Are they really that different?
