Question 2wd Coil Spring 5.0L???

Ok Boys & Girls, looked & searched to no avail for oil pan, oil pump, & pickup bein used for 5.0L swap into 4th Gen coil spring style Rangers.

I have a Buddy that's done a few Edge's with the swap & everythin swaps right over, but he had to move his steerin rack down to clear the oil pan, and is runnin a 04 Mustang 3.8L auto trans at moment.

Don't really want to have those kinda issues on the next one.

Any help & info will be GREATLY APPRECIATED & THANKS!

I've got the engine/trans mounted a bit higher than most with two 3/8" spacers on each side of the Expo transmission mount.

Using "Strada Shop" engine plates but spaced up enough to cancel out the drop in the right sde.

Have plenty of room for the rack.

Using an Expo steel oil pan with the lower front edge moved back to the drain plug to give install clearance with the transmission installed. Used a Ford Racing parts rear sump oil pickup.

All the mounting plate designs I've seen have a flat plate on left and a drop plate on right. Think a flat on the right and a 3/8" lift on left is better option.

Not really interested in cutting & welding the oil pan. From what I've research in the Ford Catalog, there are a few rear sump applications for the 5.0L motor.

Was just lookin to find out what others are usin on their 2wd coil springed Rangers?

The generic rear sump Ford Racing Parts sump will work.

But.... It's about 3/8" deeper under the oil pump than the Expo pan and evaporates clearance above the rack and pinion unit.

And, (and perhaps not an issue) the OEM Expo front cat's won't fit with the generic oil pan.

The stock Expo pan can be used, but the engine needs to get dropped straight down into the engine bay and then have the transmission brought up from underneath. Makes for a much more arduous install.

I didn't have to move my steering rack and just was able to use the stock explorer pan. It is a tight fit but it does fit. I also used the explorer mounts and reworked the explorer plates so I could use them.

If you have a 3.0 be sure to cut out the metal spacer on the driver side. Also I am using the stock steel stamped pan and I have a 1/2 in spacer on my trans mount and now I have about 1/2 inch or so of clearance between the pan and the crossmember if I where to do this again I would probably try to stiffin the motor mounts by adding some type of caulk or industrial glue to the motor mounts
