straight swap no. 1st .... federal reg dont allow v8 in ranger as no where in its history wa it offered with 8 pistons.
but a custom title alters that limitation....
though that is not really an issue generally. most states dont even look at this that far...
but the other reg that requires the engine to be 97 or newer applies across in the general.
when its home built/hotrod/buggy titled though, its pretty easy to get it done legally, but buying insurance for it is the assbiter then.
most states dont really hassle yu to much, just put and match a veci from a 97 v8 on it with all the compatable emmissions equipment and most guys get by inspection.
