It can and has been done either carbed or EFI. I prefer EFI myself. Research is key to doing a successful swap and, luckily, there is a lot of info out there for 97-back Ranger V8s.

A C4 is a popular automatic choice or an AOD because it has overdrive (less highway noise, better fuel economy). Borg Warner "World Class" T5 or B-W T56 for manual.

Need to decide what you want first, lots of good information out there, just spend some time reading and you'll be acquiring what you need before you know it. The links rwenzing posted is a good start for sure.

Get a T-5 transmission,
And, its fairly simple to do,
You'll need new motor mounts, of course. So that in itself keeps it from being a straight across bolt up swap.

Not sure about videos, Engine swaps are time consuming so I'm not sure if they would make a video for that

No two swaps are the same. Just need to do it. Not that hard, just very time consuming. Closest thing I think you're going to come to that is a Harwood Performance manual.

Also keep in mind inspections. I just finished my swap and did a carbed 302 into an 88 XLT and ran into smog issues.......

fc i would try and look at 4x4 70-79 or so f-100 thats like the only thing i can think of that has a 302 and a manual (its a 3 speed tho) with a transfercase or you could try to find an 80-86 or so bronco/f-150 5 speed there may have been a 4 speed in early 80's broncos/f-150s/f-100 but i dont know off the top of my head
