3.0 to a 5.0 engine swap
Just curious is this possible. has anybody done this. just trying to get more H.P out my 3.0. I heard forlks using the flowmaster 44. but how can I run true duals and still be smog legal? and how can I run true duals from a vehicle that only has 1-exhaust header?

You have me confused, what exactly is your question? Your start off by mentioning an engine swap and end it about flowmaster mufflers...

so, how difficult is a 3.0 to 5.0 swap? what does it entail? going to a junkyard and pulling an old mustang motor and slammin it in with a c4 or 6 and calling it good or what? never done an engine swap but would like to.

The 5.0 swap has been done in the Ranger. Definitely the most common V8 swap for the Ranger. Wish I could do one on mine and have it street legal still, damn emissions in Cali.

You should be fine...I think. The rule is, the engine has to be same age or newer than the vehicle it is going into. Just have to get a 5.0 from an Expy...I think they still had 5.0s in them in 01, I could be wrong though.

Well I get all my parts free. and their are plenty off 5.0 engines in the recycle yard. so from a explorer. hmmmmmmmmmmm I would have to check tomorrow.
How and what do i need to make it all legal. I assume engine,tranny,rear end, what else? any I deas. thks

Not sure about the tranny (other then getting a stronger one), but the axle does not matter. Just make sure the engine is from 01 or newer and you should be good to go.

so engine and probably maybe a rear end since i need something to handle that sort of power. so no computer? i ask because this is a new thing for me as all my other cars are european. thanks

I found the info I was looking at. full diagram,pics of the install and what is needed from a donor 5.0 explorer. woohoo i going free not spree shopping tomorrow at the yard.

Well seems you found everything you need, but yes computer would be needed. For the axle try getting one from an Explorer with disc brakes and a 31 spline with L/S.
