I am in love no my favorite Diesel engine in my favorite truck. How much of the engine compartment did you have to altar to fit the Power stroke and what litre of power stroke you running in that thing.

It actually fit without modifying the engine compartment. Tranny tunnel had to change, but the engine fits. Its a 6.0.

Small problem. Actually large problem. We made a little gunk up in Ennis and clogged the IPR, (Injection pressure regulator) but wasn't sure what it was on the screen. Pulled the IPR last week, and found what looked like metal shavings in the screen. Put in another IPR right before the track, and it ran for 45 seconds and died. Pulled it out, and the screen was completely full of copper. Pulled the oil filter like every other time, and ran it over a towel. It looked like a christmas tree. Looks like it ate a bearing. I am thinking the original gunk was the Polydyn coating on the bearings. IT will not have that coating when it gets put back together. It sucks, but it is what it is. I'll get it back up as soon as I can. I just don't have a lot of time right now with Family obligations.

Never got it off the trailer, FML. Had a sensor take a crap on me, so I pulled it out and found some bad news. Got it back to the shop, and got it ready to pull out, AGAIN. FML, can't believe I just typed that.

Anyway, this is what I found in the oil screen under the cooler. If someone can figure out WTF the black chit is, please let me and the rest of the world know, its everywhere. I know what the Copper is.

Its very soft, almost feels like paper, but has the consistency of graphite.

The guy that built the motor has been building Race motors exclusively for 25+ years, and Everyone will point you to him for a motor. He built my boat motors, and builds Nitromethane, alcohol, turbo motors, blower motors, etc. (he used to build Don Garlitts motors FWIW). He knows his chit is what I am getting at. He has not had a chance to look at it yet, but will Monday. I'm just plane baffled, but clearly I am looking at a complete tear down, a ton of cleaning, new injectors, and at the very least, new bearings for the motor, and rebuilding both turbos. I want it done yesterday, and I certainly want it by TS, (the new one). Given the fact that the oil has to pass through that Screen to fire the injectors, and it was literally clogged solid, we were not getting the full power out of it.

Oh well, it is what it is, but that doesn't make it suck any less.

hmm, well i never saw what a gasket looks like when its sucked through a motor... but i doubt that will ever happen.

Maybe all the metal debris torn the filter up and made all that black stuff. Again i doubt that too, buts its likely i guess.

It could just be lots of carbon deposits too....
