Default 4.6 vs 5.0 Swap?

Well, I've asked a similar question before, and done a little more research. Even though the 4.6 is a lot wider than the 5.0, and cutting would be done to get it to fit, would it be worth it? I mean the best the 5.0 did in a Mustang(where I would probably get the engine) did about 225 HP, while the 4.6 did about 260 HP (from 99-04). I like my power, but also like comfort when I'm driving. I understand the 5.0 could give me both but the 4.6 would give more power, any advice on what I could do? To either get more power in the 5.0 or comfort for the 4.6? Anything is appreciated. Thank you!

The 5.0 is much easier to work on vs the 4.6. Fab work takes lots of time and money, but the 4.6 towncars are becoming easy to find campared to 5.0 expos or mustangs at the local you pulls, at least in my area. The money put into fab work for the 4.6 could be used to build a very stout 5.0.

Spend the extra couple of thousand required to get the 4.6 to fit on some bolt on parts for the 5.0. You'll be happier in the long run

This, there are loads of aftermarket addons for the 5.0. With all that money you saved putting a 5.0 in you could easily make more than a 4.6.

I know. But with the money you would save swapping in a 5.0 from an explorer you could boost the 5.0s power over that of a stock 4.6.

You are talking about old and new technology. I have had a 4.6 5 speed ranger for almost a year. Love it, might be more work to do the swap but well worth it.

i think the 5.0 would be your best motor. if you put a set of afr 185 heads and a custom camshaft that truck would be very fast for a truck.
