Default Re: Chg Oil/filter on 2011 4.0 Ranger at 970 miles

The manual doesn't mention a need for an oil change so soon. They only mention about taking it easy for the initial break in period. Will it hurt to change the oil so soon? Maybe/maybe not. Some companies use a special break in oil from the factory and don't recommend changing it out too soon. As to if Ford does that or not, I don't know.

In my case, I changed the oil at 2,500 miles because six months were up from the date of manufacture. The manual doesn't mention doing time changes, so I may have just thrown my money away by not waiting until I had 7,500 miles like the manual recommends. It's all a judgement call on your part. It's your vehicle and your money. So in the end it comes down to what you want to do.
