I am new in Ford Ranger Forum but I want to contribute a little with diesel engines in Ford Rangers

Here, in Brasil we use Diesels Ranger, engines made by International Engines.

I will put some information about our Rangers diesel and the following combinations:

HS2500 (called Maxion-Rover, now International - engine from Land Rover Defender - discontiued)
HS2500 - 115hps
Mazda M5R1 Gearbox
Dana 35 front axle and Ford 8.8 rear - 4,56:1 ratio
BW 1354 TCase

Note: It has a very slow performace, but good marks of comsumption

HS2800 - An evolution of HS2500 made by International Engines (who own Maxion/Perkins in Brasil)called Powerstroke
HS2800 - 132cv (wg) or 135cv (VNT)
Eaton FSO2405B and FSO2405F gearbox
Dana 35 front axle and Dana 44/3 rear - 4,10:1 (2001/2002) and 3,73:1 ratios
BW 1354 T Case

International NGD 3.0E common rail - This is an all-new engine, different from HS series.
NGD/PS 3.0 - 163cv (can be updated to 227cv by EPROM reprograming) and 380Nm
EATON FSO 2405A gearbox
Dana 35 front and Dana 44/3 rear axle. 3.54?1 ratio
BW 1354

That is the Brazilian combination Ranger diesel

Do not make confusion with HS2800 engine and MWM Sprint 2.8L. Both has the same size (2,8L) but they came from too distinct conceptions.

All this engines are High speed diesel with maximum power in 3800 rpms.

HS 2.8L in my point of view is the best choise in Ranger diesel convertion because it is simple, reliable and light (+/-208kg). And it is quite simple to find because there is a lot of Land Rover defender convertion. And it lifetime is over 200 thousand miles.

Sorry my english
