Default Tire replacement suggestions

My 07' Ranger XLT when new, came with Continental Contitrac P225/70 R15 on it.
These tires look VERY small on the truck but I have seen other Rangers with the same type of tire. It looks like there's plenty of clearance though so a bit larger of a tire would be a plus.

In the owners manual, I could not find the recommended tire size but it to say to replace with only P 9all-seanson) tires.
The truck is a 2wd, 3.0L engine, 5 speed automatic, 59k miles.
It is used mainly for commuting 1 and a half hours per day. I'm in the Chicago area so I drive in the snow.
Last winter it slipped pretty bad with normal acceleration from a stop and now it does this even when it rains at times. I have added sand bags but I'm still nervous with the winter almost here.

Any tips/recommendations are welcome (size, brand....)

Thanks
