I don't believe in spanking UNLESS the chid deserves it. If you have been firm with him/her and that hasn't worked, then, proceed to announce that a spanking WILL occur if they don't behave. Then, if the child is still not behaved, a firm hand to the childs rear usually gets them in line.
The worst thing a parent can do, is threaten a spanking, then not go through with it, if needed. The child will only think "they will threaten but not really spank me"
How do I know this? My parents never spanked me, only threatend to, so, one time I got c0cky" after dad "threatended" to spank me and said "Yeah, right" well, off come his belt, and down came my pants. I never needed a spanking again.
